Surf trip to Hoddevik

7 - 10. November, 2024

A few weeks ago, an excited group of BSI Frilufts members packed their swimwear and headed to Lapoint Surfschool in Hoddevik. The trip began Thursday afternoon with a ferry ride to Selje, followed by a 40-minute drive to the surf camp. We were greeted by stunning northern lights, setting the perfect tone for the adventure ahead.

Friday kicked off with our first surf lesson. After a quick theory lesson and welcome, we suited up and hit the waves. After a few hours of surfing (and swallowing seawater), we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch, exchanging stories of wipeouts and triumphs. After an afternoon theory-lecture, a few brave souls opted for a second session at dusk, others relaxed with hikes, sauna time, or knitting.

Saturday brought incredible waves—the best some instructors had ever seen in Hoddevik! After the morning lecture, many skipped lunch to keep surfing, while others refueled before braving the cold wetsuits for round two. The day ended with a cozy evening of sauna and delicious dinner.

On Sunday, we made the most of our last day. Some surfed one last time, while others hiked to catch the sunrise or explore the area. Tired but happy, we headed back to Bergen after an amazing weekend of great people, incredible waves, and loads of fun.
